Transforming Karachi's Traffic Landscape: Bahria Icon Flyover & Underpasses

COOOP takes pride in its role as the designer of the Bahria Icon Flyover & Underpasses project in Karachi, Pakistan, commissioned by Bahria Town Pvt Ltd. With a total cost of PKR 1.15 Billion and completed in 2015, this transformative infrastructure initiative aimed to address traffic congestion and enhance connectivity in the city.

Our comprehensive range of services for this project included topographic surveying, geotechnical reporting, traffic surveys, and data collection to forecast traffic volumes. Additionally, hydrology and drainage studies were conducted to ensure sustainable infrastructure development. COOOP's expertise extended to the design of pavements, flyovers, underpasses, and approach roads, with meticulous attention to detail in preparing preliminary and final design reports.

The project comprised one flyover and three underpasses strategically located to cater to traffic flow from various directions, including the two swords roundabout, Bilawal House, Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s shrine, and the Bahria Town Icon building. Notably, the underpasses were equipped with state-of-the-art electronic systems meeting international standards, ensuring smooth traffic management and safety.

This endeavor was part of the Grade Separated Traffic Improvement Plan, addressing traffic challenges from Park Tower Intersection to A.T. Naqvi Roundabout. COOOP's dedication to excellence extended to site supervision and quality controls, ensuring the successful execution of the project and its positive impact on Karachi's transportation infrastructure.
